FROM INNOVATION TO SUSTAINABILITY

We started this journey with hardwood charcoal, aiming to innovate in the barbecue market by offering a complete fire-lighting solution. Once we got in the business, we realized something was wrong: Hardwood charcoal is produced from native trees, most of which are not recovered. Additionally, we noticed there was no eco-friendly alternative to replace traditional charcoal.

 

So we decided to create one.

 

This led to the development of the first charcoal made 100% from rice husks, entirely developed by our team in Argentina.

This process included the integral development of a pyrolyzer to transform the material, making us experts in the entire production process.

Scale and new opportunity

Today, we installed and operate a large-scale facility in Paraguay, where we transform Rice Husks into 2.500 tons of Biochar per year and capture 4.000 tons of CO2 equivalent annually.

This is how upchar was born.

Building on our same production process, we dedicated all our experience and know-how to developing the biochar and carbon credit business.
